Review: Kings of Leon "Because of the Times"

I know haven't posted in a while, but better late than never especially considering the hype I've given this group over the past few years. And let me tell you, "Because of the Times" is another great album by the Kings. Even though it is a little more studio produced than the previous two, the Kings still manage to bring raw rock, driving rhythms, and songs that just make you tap your toes. Granted, it's not a perfect album, as it has its moments of "blah" (like the song "Charmer"), but it is a steady progression by a young band.

The intro, "Knocked Up," is a seven minute, slow moving, momentum gaining song that you never hear a group choose as the first song of an album and it may very well by my favorite song. "On Call," the first single, is similar to "The Bucket," and just a great overall song. As with the rest of the album, each song brings something unique and shows that group continues to build while not forgetting their roots. Quality album, worth purchasing and keeping in your rotation. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

I couldn't agree more. Knocked Up is such a gem, and the whole album is one hundred times better now that I get up and skip Charmer.
