Concert Posters

Want a cool/different way to decorate a room in your house? Try some of these concert posters, located at
philaarts.com, punchgutstudio.com, and justinhampton.com. Most of these are recent concerts, but you can find random vintage ones, as well as some fine/pop art, like this, (one of my favorite movies) found on the Philaarts.com site.

The cheapest prints are on the Philaarts.com site and they range from $25-$100. Justin Hampton and Punchgut are artists; their prints are limited and thus more expensive. And fyi, Justin Hampton did the artwork for the album cover of DJ Danger Mouse's "Grey Album,"

Go to Best Buy Today...

That weird looking dude is the "Pale Man," a character from one of the best movies of 2006, "Pan's Labyrinth." So do yourself a favor, go to Best Buy or whatever your local store may be and buy/rent the dvd. It's a great, yet dark, movie, following little Ofelia as she becomes engrossed in her own fairy tale while at the same time being trapped in the Spanish Civil War in the mid 1940's.

Review: Kings of Leon "Because of the Times"

I know haven't posted in a while, but better late than never especially considering the hype I've given this group over the past few years. And let me tell you, "Because of the Times" is another great album by the Kings. Even though it is a little more studio produced than the previous two, the Kings still manage to bring raw rock, driving rhythms, and songs that just make you tap your toes. Granted, it's not a perfect album, as it has its moments of "blah" (like the song "Charmer"), but it is a steady progression by a young band.

The intro, "Knocked Up," is a seven minute, slow moving, momentum gaining song that you never hear a group choose as the first song of an album and it may very well by my favorite song. "On Call," the first single, is similar to "The Bucket," and just a great overall song. As with the rest of the album, each song brings something unique and shows that group continues to build while not forgetting their roots. Quality album, worth purchasing and keeping in your rotation. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
